This week, the MAC Lab participated in the 2nd Annual Job Shadow Day sponsored by the Calvert County Mentoring Partnership. Two students from middle schools in Calvert County spent the day at the Lab with conservators Nichole Doub and Nancy Shippen. Nichole and Nancy took them on a tour of the lab and then to visit an archaeology site being excavated here on the Park. Then they were able to try their hands in the treatment labs. They air abraded, worked with artifacts under a microscope, and even got to help treat a cannon! We were more than happy to show them the ropes and, both last year and this year, we have been very proud to be part of an event that promotes mentoring and inspires and motivates Calvert County’s youth!
