In February, curators at the MAC Lab received a collection from a late 18th, early 19th-century site in Prince Frederick, Maryland called the Bowens Road II site. This collection contains almost 10,000 artifacts. Notable artifacts from Bowens Road II include several different types of ceramics common in the 18th century, a thimble, several buttons, as well as an iron stirrup. Of particular interest is a silver Spanish “one” Reale coin. This coin was produced in Potosi Bolivia and could have been made as early as 1683.
